St Benedict’s is an Independent Catholic School, which seeks to provide a holistic education for boys through full participation in spiritual, academic, sporting, creative and cultural activities. The Board of Governors invites applications for the following post in the College. Position: Head of Auxiliary Services and Operations Requirements: ● Suitably qualified candidates with relevant technical tertiary education ● Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing a large facility such as a school/campus; golf estate or housing estate ● Management of the operations department and staff, including budgets and procurement
● Effectively and expeditiously complete repairs in accordance with sound maintenance practices and priority of urgency of operations
● Maintaining a tracking system for maintenance requests; manage and prioritize facility work requests
● Overseeing the application process for certification and licencing to these departments on behalf of the school
● Oversee and supervise the planning, scheduling and execution of new construction and re-modelling projects; ensuring project completion on time and within budget
● Be willing to participate in the Catholic Ethos of the school Key Attributes and Competencies: ● Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work professionally and collaboratively with others ● Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing ● Working knowledge of mechanical units (HVAC), electrical, grounds care, buildings, carpentry, playground equipment and safety ● Working knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA) ● Sound knowledge and compliance with regulations, codes and specifications relevant to the role ● Excellent organisational and problem solving skills ● Demonstrated high level of effective leadership skills Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to submit a letter of motivation, with the names of three references and their abridged curriculum vitae to vacancies@stbenedicts.co.za by no later than 15 July 2020.
