About our school

Immaculata Secondary School was established by the Holy Cross Sisters in 1920 and it was based in Alexander Township. In 1970, the school was moved to Soweto in Diepkloof. Immaculata is a co-ed school and its enrolment ranges between 600 and 650. We do not discriminate against race, culture, creed and religion. Even though we are a Catholic school, about 60% of our learners are non-catholic.

  1. Values: As a school, we believe in the following values: Love; Care; Honesty; Tolerance and Respect.
  2. Vision: Immaculata Secondary School aspires to be a true reflection of a Christian School which displays both academic excellence and human values.
  3. Mission: We offer quality education and Christian values through commitment, hard work and dedication to inculcate in our learners a sense of responsibility and accountability. We serve the community by ensuring that learners are developed to assume their place in society as good citizens whose education strives to provide them with physical, academic, social and cultural maturity.
  4. Academic Performance: Immaculata is known for its best results which, over the years, ranged between 70-100%. In the past six years we produced the following overall pass rate:
    • 2008 – 92%
    • 2009 – 98%
    • 2010 – 96%
    • 2011 – 97%
    • 2012 – 98%
    • 2013 – 95% .
We are proud to say we have produced doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, nurses, academics. Learners have an opportunity to choose between three streams namely, the Natural Sciences, the Management Sciences, and the Social Sciences.
