Founding & history
Veritas College is an Independent, Co-Educational, Catholic Day school located in Springs although the college is accessible to the surrounding areas of Nigel, Heidelberg, Brakpan, Boksburg and Benoni. We cater for learners from Grade 000 to Grade 12.

The school has two campuses. The Pre-Preparatory and Preparatory are located on the grounds that were previously Our Lady of Mercy Convent and the Senior School is located on the grounds that were formerly St Brendan’s Christian Brothers College.

In 1992, Springs Convent and Springs CBC amalgamated and formed Veritas College. As our foundation, we therefore have a rich heritage and an excellent reputation for sound education grounded in traditional Catholic values. Many of our parents are past pupils of the founder schools and in this way ensure that the core ethos remains as we constantly rise to the challenges of these interesting times.

Beginning in the Pre-Preparatory, we offer small classes to enable each learner to be given individual attention. We have highly motivated, experienced and qualified staff who focus on helping each child find his or her unique talents and abilities. We offer a safe, caring environment where children can grow and develop from toddler to teen.

The Senior School in particular places a strong emphasis on academic achievement with the use of state-of-the art technology to support our teachers in the classroom. We have an extensive range of subjects from which the learner may choose, including Hospitality Studies. This is taught in a fully equipped kitchen and we have our own restaurant, Veritasty. Our Senior School learners write the Independent Examination Board (IEB) Matriculation Examinations and we are very proud of our consistent 100% pass rate and high matriculation exemption rate.

Both campuses have extensive grounds and well-equipped facilities. We offer a comprehensive range of sports and cultural activities throughout the Preparatory and Senior School.  Our learners are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities as we feel strongly that children need to enjoy a balanced life-style and that the skills and values learnt from participation in these various activities enhance their development into well rounded adults.

Veritas College enjoys an enthusiastic spiritual life, with our Catholic ethos directing the vision and daily activities of the school. However we welcome and respect families from all faiths.
