Catholic Schools Councils
Purpose of the Catholic Schools Councils
The Catholic Schools Councils (CSC) – there is a CSC in
Pretoria
and another in
Johannesburg
- provide a forum for member schools to come together for
fellowship, to grow professionally, to collaborate on matters of
common interest and to seek unity of vision.
Structure
of the CSC
Groups within the CSCs organise events, meetings and workshops which
cater for the particular needs of their members. A group –
principals, board members, teachers, RE teachers, pre-school
teachers, learners, parents - may or may not exist from year to year
as needs and circumstances dictate.
The
CSC Executive
Each group elects a representative to the CSC Executive. The
Executive co-ordinates the activities of the CSC. The Chairperson of
the Executive represents the CSC on the Catholic Schools Board of
the
Gauteng
Province
.
Leadership
opportunities
Serving on the committee of a CSC group is an opportunity for people
committed to Catholic education to break new ground in exposing the
Catholic school movement to the issues and concerns of the day.
Planning and running events allows committee members to acquire
valuable leadership and organisational skills.

closed and the monies transferred to the Catholic Schools Board.
The

Catholic Schools Office - for Catholic Education.
National
Catholic Schools Congress dominates 2004
At the Annual General Meeting convened by the Catholic Schools
Office on 7 February 2004, the main business was to work through the
preparatory material from the Catholic Institute of Education on the
Second National Catholic Schools Congress, which was held in
September 2004. Participants broke into groups - owners, principals,
board members, RE teachers, teachers - to prepare responses to the
Congress material.
For
2004, Principal's Forums met in three regional clusters. A very
successful Catholic Schools Choir Festival was held at the
initiative of the southern cluster in the Linder Auditorium on the
Wits Education Campus. The RE Subcommittee arranged several events,
including the Grade 11 Mass and a retreat for RE teachers.
